Shirley Ann Obituary Death – Shirley Ann (Brandt) Hagen, age 88, of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, passed away at Springfield Memorial Hospital on February 12, 2023 in a calm and peaceful manner. On February 10, 1935, Shirley Brandt was brought into the world by her parents, Albert and Margaret (Bomke) Brandt.
After completing her high school education at Pleasant Plains, she went on to marry Lee Hagen. She spent the majority of her life helping her brother and sister run the business they had founded, BRANDTS. Shirley was a devout follower of the teachings of Zion Lutheran Church. S
hirley adored working crossword puzzles while snacking on her favorite sweet treat, popcorn, and watching her favorite television shows, particularly classic westerns. Shirley never missed an opportunity to cheer for the number 7 BRANDT driver in the NASCAR races, as this was one of her favorite drivers.
This was a certainty. Shirley was an incredible role model for both her children and her grandchildren. She looked forward to spending time with her daughter and her family in Arizona over the course of several years. Jacob and Zach were her grandsons, and she loved them very much. She was so incredibly proud of them.
There were times when Shirley was open to the idea of going on an adventure or two with her sister and some of their other pals. Everyone who knew and loved Shirley will grieve her passing in a profound way. Shirley’s parents, Albert and Margaret Bomke Brandt, as well as her brother, Glen Brandt, as well as her husband, Lee Hagen, and her son, Jeff Hagen, all passed away before she did. Her sister Evelyn Brandt Thomas, her daughter Stacy Kress (and her husband Jim), her grandsons Jacob and Zachary Kress, her sister-in-law Gayle Reiser, and a number of nieces and nephews are among those who are able to carry on her legacy after her passing.
