Robert Lear Death, Obituary – On Sunday, February 5, 2023, Robert Ernst McLear Jr., who had been living at Reid Health, passed away at the age of 86. He called the city of Richmond in Indiana his home. Bob McLear was born in Richmond and has lived there continuously throughout his entire life. It was on May 30th, 1936 in the city of Indianapolis, Indiana, that he was welcomed into the world by his parents, Robert E. and Harriett Rossetter McLear Sr.

In addition to his work for Friends Fellowship Community and his ownership and administration of Renovation Shoe Shop, he served as a firefighter for the Richmond Fire Department for a period of twenty years. Bob was a golf enthusiast to the core. During the course of the round, he had two holes in one and shot his age many times. He had a profound affection for his family, and he treasured the time he was able to devote to being with them.

Bob was an avid sports fan and attended many of his grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on in all of their athletic endeavours. Throughout his entire life, he was an active member of the Richmond Evening Optimist Club, the 1408 Fire Fighters Union, and the Liberty Golf Club. He also served as president of the 1408 Fire Fighters Union. The following members of his family are still living: his daughters Sally (James) Baumer and Kathy (Chip) Gray, both of Centerville, Indiana, and Indianapolis, Indiana, respectively.

His son Robert (Michelle) McLear III of Batavia, Illinois; his daughter-in-law Judy McLear of Evansville, Indiana; his stepson Jeff (Susan) Cappa of Richmond; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his sisters-in-law Sharr Capp Maxine McLear, he had been married to for the first time, went away on January 24, 2009, and Joyce McLear, he had been married to for the second time, passed away on November 26, 2020.

In addition to his parents, his siblings George “Bud” McLear and Richard McLear, as well as his sister Suzanne Armstrong, all passed away before he did. On September 4, 2016, his son Michael McLear, who had been ill, passed away. Maxine McLear, he had been married to for the first time, passed away on January 24, 2009. On Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., the Doan & Mills Funeral Home in Richmond, which is situated at 790 National Road West.

Will be conducting a visitation for the late Robert Ernst McLear Jr. The ensuing Christian burial rite, known as the Liturgy of Christian Burial, will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on February 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., and Father Sengole T. Gnanaraj will serve as the officiant for the event. The funeral and burial will take place in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in the city of St. Mary.
