Richard Adams Obituary Death – Following the announcement that Master Sgt. (Retired) Richard Adams had passed away earlier this week, each and every one of us has been left in a state of profound and unimaginable sadness.
Adams, a paratrooper of the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, was one of the courageous few that performed the “impossible” jump into the 200 yard parade field of Corregidor from 400 feet in the air while the winds were blowing at 36 knots. The jump was deemed “impossible” because the winds were blowing at such a high speed.
Because of the strong gusts, it was thought that it would be impossible to make the jump. At the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Operation Top Side, which took place in February 2020 in Manila, Philippines, Adams was the sole veteran of World War II to be there.
This event took place in the Philippines. This gathering served as a celebration to mark the beginning of the military operation that was referred to as “Top Side.” At the same time that the ranks of the 503rd paratroopers stood in formation wearing full dress uniforms at the Manila American Cemetery, a young woman pushed her father in a wheelchair along a marble walkway.
This took place at the same time that the 503rd paratroopers wore their full dress uniforms. Lieutenant Colonel Derek Noel, who was the commander of the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, addressed the individual. Noel relayed the following information to the person:
“They’re all come to see you.” The man stood up as Lt. Col. Noel congratulated him on his achievement, which was received with cheers from the audience. In actual life, Adams was a member of the Rock Paratroopers and took part in their missions.
He enjoyed good health throughout his entire life and made it to the ripe old age of 100. It will be exactly 78 years to the day of the day that he displayed the most bravery that he will be laid to rest in Michigan on February 16th. He had a full and robust life for a very long time.
Keep in mind, though, that parachutists do not really die; rather, they are able to survive the fall and make their escape. The Rock has a good memory and can recall things from the past.
