Ralph Lindo Obituary, Death – It is with great regret that we inform you that retired Police Officer Ralph Lindo passed away earlier today (Wednesday 22nd February 2023). Ralph’s health had been steadily deteriorating for some time. In September 1959, Ralph became a young Cadet for the Bermuda Police Force for the first time.
As soon as he turned 19, he enrolled in Basic Training Course #15, which took place between March and July 1972. After completing the course, he was assigned to Central (Uniforn) in Hamilton. The year after that, Ralph was incarcerated in the Murder Room for an extended period of time before being moved to Western (Uniform) in 1973. Before being transferred to the Operations (Traffic) division in November 1975, he served in CID, on Beach Squad, Central (Uniform), and Western (Uniform), respectively.
His final assignment was in Operations (Traffic). After that, Ralph transferred to the Motor Cycle Patrol Section (MCPS), a position that he thoroughly enjoyed, and he remained in that capacity for the subsequent eight years.
In 1984, following brief stints as an Aide in CID and on the Task Force, Ralph was assigned to the Marine Section. There, he demonstrated that he was the ideal man for the job, and he was held in very high regard by all of those who worked with him.
Ralph was honored with the Colonial Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in September 1987. He continued to be a very helpful and well-liked member of the Marine Section until his retirement in 2007, at which point he stepped down from his position. Ralph was a very sociable member of the Service and had been a member of the football team that competed for the Police Recreation Club.
After Ralph retired, he began driving a taxi, which led to him amassing a sizable clientele, including visitors to the island on business from other countries who always made sure to retain his services when they were in town.
Ralph maintained his long-standing relationship with the BPS and participated in a significant number of the ExPo social events on a consistent basis. His loved ones, along with his many friends and former coworkers, will suffer a great loss because of his passing. We would like to express our deepest condolences to Ralph’s family and will update this post with any new information we obtain.
