Paul Murdaugh Obituary, Death – On the evening of Monday, June 7, 2021, Paul Terry Murdaugh, age 22, of Hampton, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest alongside his devoted mother, Margaret Branstetter Murdaugh (Maggie). Paul’s childhood was spent developing a deep appreciation for nature, and he looked forward to nothing more than going hunting at their cabin in Moselle with his father, Alex, and his brother, Buster. He was a Junior at the University of South Carolina, and you could frequently find him cheering on the Gamecocks with his friends and family. The Gamecocks were his favorite team.
Paul was one of those people who never met a complete stranger, and he had a large number of friends. He was the type of person who would go out of his way to assist anyone who was struggling. Paul was unlike anyone else in terms of his level of love and authenticity, which contributed to the singularity of his personality. Paul is survived by his cherished father Richard Alexander Murdaugh (Alex), as well as his older brother Richard Alexander Murdaugh Jr. (Buster), both of whom he revered with all of his being and looked up to tremendously.
In addition, Paul is survived by his maternal grandparents Terry Lee Branstetter and Kennedy Hubbard Branstetter, his paternal grandparents Randolph Murdaugh III and Elizabeth Alexander Murdaugh, his uncles Randolph Murdaugh IV (Christy) and John Marvin Murdaugh (Elizabeth), his aunts Marian Branstetter Proctor (Bart) and Lynn Murdaugh Goette (Allen), and his many cousins. Paul is also survived by his maternal grandparents Terry Lee Brans (Libby, Hannah, Kennedy, Mills, Trey, Reeves, Mary Elizabeth, Caroline, Mary Marvin, Liza Grace, and Randolph).
A memorial service commemorating the lives of Paul and Maggie will be held at the Hampton Cemetery on Friday, June 11 at noon. The service will be held in their honor. The family is receiving assistance with the arrangements from the Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.
