Nancy Phillips Death, Obituary – On February 13, 2023, Nancy Mattingly Phillips, 66 years old, of Reed, Kentucky, passed away in her home while receiving care from St. Anthony’s Hospice. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Her parents, Carl and Carol Mattingly, passed away before she did. Mrs. Phillips is an only child.
She tied the knot with the man who would become the love of her life in 1974, Jonathan Phillips, and he was the one who tended to her needs with vigilance and tenderness while she was unwell. After receiving her diploma from Henderson County High School in 1974, Nancy went on to become a proud mother and homeowner.
She was of the opinion that the most important thing in the world was being a mother and providing for her family, especially her children. Her children grew older, and as they did, her favorite hobby became watching the boys play baseball. She enjoyed the games, kept score at each one, and brought snickerdoodles for everyone to many of the games.
Later, she worked at Primitive Plus and Bacon’s, where she made friends for life who were more like family and where she also worked with these pals. After the children in her family had grown up, she found delight in gardening, going shopping, and attending church with her family. She has quite the collection of salt and pepper shakers due to her passion for collecting them.
In the process of researching her family’s ancestry, a significant amount of time and paper were wasted. Nancy was a former sinner who was redeemed by God’s grace and became a member of Reed Community Church. Above all else, Nancy cherished spending time with her grandchildren, who served as the joy and inspiration in her life. She took care of all of her grandchildren and ran Grancy’s Day Camp during the summer months.
At the camp, she and the children participated in a variety of activities and went on trips throughout Kentucky to visit interesting places and have fun. She was happiest when she was at the river camp that her family owned on the Green River, where she could spend time with her family and entertain guests.
One of the most significant things that could be mentioned about Nancy is that she would put aside anything and everything at any time in order to help anyone. Carrie Phillips, who lives in Henderson, Kentucky, Chad Phillips and his wife Lindsay Phillips, who live in Cadiz, Kentucky, and Beau Phillips and his wife Ashley Phillips, who live in Henderson, Kentucky, are among her surviving family members.
Her husband, Jonathan Phillips, lives in Reed, Kentucky. Two sisters, Carolyn Sue Heppler of Morganfield, Kentucky, and Bonita Hatfield of Marion, Kentucky, as well as seven grandchildren: Hannah and Ella Kornacki, Mason and Reid Phillips, and Lucas Sutton in addition to Allison and June Phillips each of which she told was her favorite when she was alone with them.
