Ken Monks Death, Obituary – Ken Monks. It is with deep regret that I must inform you of Ken’s passing just a short while ago. Many of you will remember Ken between the late 1980s to the middle of the 2000s as a player for the Carlton teams. During those same years, Ken also served as our Chairman and General Secretary. I have no doubt that there are many people who have warm feelings associated with Ken.
Kenneth attended the St. Luke’s Anglican Church on a regular basis. Kenneth is no longer working at Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro after retiring. Both his father, Walter Monks, and his brother, Roland Monks, have passed away. His wife, Ruth Monks, along with his sons Roland (and Madeline) of King’s Cove, Stanley (and Lynette) of Springdale, and Randy (and Lynette) of Bishop’s Falls, as well as his daughters Mildred (and Dave) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Sharon (and Terry) of Bishop’s Falls,
Sandra (and Trevor) of Springdale, Lori (and Greg) of St. John’s, Sherri (and Chris) of Spring In addition, the deceased is survived by their mother, Elsie Monks of King’s Cove, as well as their brothers, Walter and Harold (Bertha), and sister, Shirley (Victor), as well as thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. On September 29, 2009, Reverend Mildred Tobin presided over the funeral ceremony that was held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church in the city of Springdale.
The funeral and burial took place in the Anglican Cemetery. Roland Monks, Stanley Monks, Randy Monks, David Rose, Trevor Vincent, and Brady Huxter served as the pallbearers at this service. Jim Maidment and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes were given the responsibility of making the necessary funeral preparations.
During this difficult time, we want Ken’s family and friends to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.
