Josephine Bourke Death, Obituary – The demise of Sr. Josephine Bourke sent shockwaves through the Carbury GAA community on Sunday, the day that would have been her 100th birthday had she continued to live had she not passed away. They conveyed their most sincere sympathies and voiced their disbelief at the news.
Since the beginning of our club more than a century ago, members of the Bourke family have been instrumental in both its formation and its ongoing operation. As a result, the name “Bourke” is practically synonymous with “Carbury GAA.” Sr. Josephine’s sisters Sr. Finian, Nuala, and Eva, as well as her brothers Dermot, Seamus, Harry, Padraig, Desmond, and Joe, all passed away before she did.
Also predeceased by Sr. Josephine were her brothers. Her brothers were also gone before Sr. Josephine arrived on this earth. During this trying time, the members of her Mercy Community, as well as her niece Maire and her nephews Philip and Annraidh, are in our thoughts and prayers. We also keep her other family members in our thoughts and prayers.
After the body has been laid out in repose in the Convent of Mercy on Thursday, February 9, from 3:30 to 6:30 in the evening, Evening Prayer will take place there. The address of the convent is St. Brendan’s Drive, Coolock, Dublin 5, K7F1 Ireland.
