John Michael Death, Obituary – We are saddened to inform you that John Michael, 77 years old and a retired police officer, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. At that point, he had been a customer there for a significant number of years at that point.
Ian’s first post with the Ayr County Police was at the Girvan precinct, which he took up shortly after joining the force. Wigton, Ian’s birthplace and current residence, is also his childhood home. After being assigned to the Ayr police office following his transfer from the Dalrymple police office, he was given the responsibility of conducting patrols in the neighboring communities of Minishant, Dunure, and Dalrymple.
After attaining the rank of sergeant, he was moved to the Kilmarnock support unit where he served for the rest of his career. After that, he was transferred to the Saltcoats region as well as the control room in Ayr. His final assignment was at Girvan, the station at which he had begun his career and from which he eventually retired in the year 1994. This station served as his final posting.
It was also the station where he had been stationed at the time of his death, which led to his unfortunate demise. His wife Margaret, their son Barry, and their daughter Heather will be the ones to carry on the legacy that he leaves behind after he passes away.
