John Douglas Death, Obituary – The death of John Haigh, who lived to the age of 93 and died away on the 10th of February, 2023, is something that the Haigh family mourns together as a unit. Mr. Haigh, a beloved patriarch who lived a long and productive life as a parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent, died away peacefully in the comfort of his own home. He had a long and fruitful life. John Haigh joined the family business in 1946 with the purpose of taking Haigh’s chocolate manufacturing to new heights.
He was successful in this endeavor. John Haigh, more than anyone else, is the person who is primarily responsible for the flavor of Haigh’s chocolates that we are familiar with and appreciate today. This flavor is what makes Haigh’s chocolates so special. He brought Haigh’s to the level of being a manufacturer of chocolate of the greatest possible quality, which is today recognized on a global scale as being among the very best in the world.
He is credited with making Haigh’s one of the top chocolate manufacturers in the world. He was responsible for improving the exclusivity of the Haigh’s in-store experience as well as the way that Haigh’s is promoted even to this day. In addition to the product’s quality and flavor, he was also responsible for upgrading the product’s packaging. He established the framework for what would become a tremendously successful family business that is fast expanding and doing solid business all over Australia.
He also laid the groundwork for what would become an international company. John was a trailblazer in the world of chocolate manufacture and was known as “the Chocolate King.” He will be sorely missed, but those who knew him will ensure that his legacy lives on.
