Joann Westy Obituary Death – Scouters, it is with heavy hearts that we inform you that our very own Joann “Westy” West has been called home. We share this news with you in the hope that it will help ease your pain. We are bringing you this information in the hopes that it will make your suffering a little bit easier to bear.
We will provide you with the specifics of the service once her family has completed the appropriate preparations and we have nothing further to report. Westy’s involvement with Scouting spanned multiple decades, and throughout that time she held a variety of positions within the organization.
Her multiple positions within the Cub Scouting organization included Den Mother, Den Leader, Webelos Leader, Pack Committee Chair, Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner, and Unit Commissioner. She was also a Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner. There is not a single Cub Scout class that she has not taught, and this covers a variety of Pow-Wows as well as University of Scouting classes.
She served for a significant length of time as both the Director of the Day Camp and a member of the Camp Assessment Team throughout her tenure at this organization. At the Cub Scout Wood Badge Course, Westy served not only as an employee but also as a member of the Eagle patrol. In addition, he was a member of the Wood Badge staff.
She participated in a number of the events that were hosted by the Wood Badge Association and the districts that they are responsible for serving. Westy received the District Award of Excellence in 1981, and the Silver Beaver Award in 1987. Both of these honors were handed to Westy during his career. In the year 2002, the Tidewater Council recognized her as a Living Legend and bestowed the distinction onto her.Everyone will grieve her passing in their own unique ways.
