Hartmut Hausser Death, Obituary – The news that Hans Peter’s brother Hartmut Hausser, also known as Bob the Bugler, had passed away on or around February 9 due to complications with cancer surgery was delivered to us with a heavy heart. In August of 2015, while attending a BAA Leadership meeting, a few of us had the pleasure of finally getting to meet Hartmut. Hartmut was one of the very few buglers to play TAPS and he was the representative for BAA in Germany.
The BAA is currently working on sending condolences to Germany as a way to express our gratitude for the contributions he made over the years. There was once a man who went by the name Bob the Bugler, and many of us have known him over the course of the past few decades. However, for those people who have had the privilege of knowing this man since he was a child, his name has always been Hartmut Hausser.
Even though he passed away not long ago, the memory of him as a person who loved life, loved a great many things, and loved a great many people will endure in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. In this blog series, we will make an attempt to recall everything that we have experienced while getting to know Hartmut, and I will do so in the hopes that his many other friends will chime in here with me to tell their stories of how he came into their lives and how he made this world a better place.
We will also hope that his many other friends will chime in here with me to tell their stories of how he made this world a better place. As a result, we ask that you remain tuned and continue to do so frequently while we celebrate the man, the bugler, and the legend. My next post will be the story of how my wife Susan and I first became acquainted with a dear friend who has since passed away.
