Elizabeth Mansfield Obituary, Elizabeth Mansfield Has Passed Away - Death

Elizabeth Mansfield Obituary, Death – The 11th of February, 2023 was the day that Elizabeth Mansfield passed away. She had 93 years under her belt. She was taken in by the Brown family, who raised her in Cambridge, Massachusetts, after she became an orphan at a young age.

The year 1951 marked Elizabeth’s graduation from Bridgewater State Teachers College, and immediately following her graduation, she began her career as a physical education teacher for the North Attleborough Public Schools. She continued to pursue her passion for swimming well into her 80s by becoming a regular member of the Park Terrace Swim Club. During college and the early part of her teaching career, she worked as a swimming instructor at summer camps on Cape Cod.

Elizabeth also traveled extensively throughout her life, with some of her favorite destinations including China, Russia, Egypt, Africa, and Greece. She was a voracious reader and very active in the Richards Memorial Library, where she was eventually elected to serve on the Board of Trustees from 1993 until 1999. She was a member of the North Attleborough Historical Society in addition to the Angle Tree Garden Club, where she contributed to the writing of the club’s history.

Her fascination with history in general led her to join both of these organizations. She also volunteered as a docent at The John Brown House Museum in Providence, Rhode Island. She had a particular interest in early American furniture and spent one summer at Oxford University to further her education in the decorative arts. Her friends and neighbors in North Attleborough were invaluable to her, contributing to the enhancement of her life and making it possible for her to continue living independently in her own home up until the day she passed away.

Virginia Edgell and Elizabeth Douthart, who had been Elizabeth’s lifelong friends and roommates in college, both passed away before she did. Elizabeth will always be remembered fondly by both of their families in the role of honorary aunt.
