Chris Reid Obituary, Death – Chris Reid was one of the founding members of our project and a true community hero. We at EBI Unites are deeply saddened to announce his passing; he was a wonderful person. They founded EBI Unites together with his wife, Jacqui, and it has since been recognized and commended by a large number of organizations and leaders in the field of delivering social justice for its love of community, dedication to combating poverty, and building community resilience in the surrounding area.
EBI Unites was founded out of a love of community and a desire to build community resilience. On February 16, 2023, Chris was unable to win the battle against the scourge of mental health that was affecting many people in our communities. Chris’s physical health suffered a sharp decline in a relatively short period of time, which was another contributor to his untimely death.
We are especially devastated by this news because Chris was such a vocal proponent of addressing issues of mental health in a public forum, and he assisted a great number of people in finding a way through their own unique crises. We are aware that there are many things that can cause someone to take their own life, even if they are surrounded by people who love and care for them.
We encourage anyone who is struggling with thoughts of suicide to reach out, talk to family or loved ones, or call the Samaritans at 116 123. We are aware that there are many things that can cause someone to take their own life, even if they are surrounded by people who love and care for them. The funeral service for Chris will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 10 a.m. at The Church of the Immaculate Conception located at 2049 Maryhill Road in Glasgow, G20 0AA.
Anyone who would like to attend is more than welcome to do so. After that, the service will proceed to the Maryhill Crematorium for another service at 11.15 in the morning. The food pantry will be closed on this day in order to make it easier for our large number of volunteers to attend, but it will reopen on Thursday, March 2nd, as per usual.
