Chris Cooper Death, Obituary – Chris Cooper, a dear friend of Blackpool Operatic Players, passed away suddenly on Tuesday evening while doing what he loved most: rehearsing for the next production of “Shrek The Musical” that will take place at the Grand Theatre. Blackpool Operatic Players share this sad news with a heavy heart as they announce the passing of Chris. Chris made his stage debut the following year in the production of Wild Violets, which was staged the year after he joined the Blackpool Operatic Players and became a member of the group. In the years that followed, he had a significant impact on our culture, both in the spotlight and in the shadows, in a variety of different capacities. Chris was a performer who was well-known and well-liked in the various amateur societies located throughout the Fylde.
He lent his wide range of skills and extensive experience to a variety of roles in many shows that were performed at different venues all over the region. Chris was not only a member of BOP, but he also performed with the band on occasion. He appeared on stage with BOP. The upbeat attitude and wry sense of humor that Chris exuded were infectious, which contributed to the fun atmosphere of the rehearsals. Additionally, because he loved to improvise here and there during performances, he brought an extra something special to the table each time! In addition to this, he was a figure of hospitality who played an important role in assisting a significant number of newcomers to our society in adjusting to their new environment and feeling accepted. Chris will be greatly missed by all of us in the BOP family, as well as the larger theater community in the Fylde, and we are confident that they feel the same way about him as we do about him.
