Throughout her life, Carol made a significant impact on a number of different communities, and as a result, she gained a great deal of love and admiration from those people Her sincere love and concern for other people exuded a kindness that is, unfortunately, all too rare in the world. Due to the fact that she was so modest about her many achievements, not many people knew about them.

Carol was a very productive visual artist whose work exhibited a high level of technical expertise along with whimsy and humor.  In addition to her role as a nurturing, supportive, and adoring mother, she held the position of Art Director at My Own Magazine. In 1995, after the passing of her cherished son Steve from AIDS, she made the decision to channel her grief into her art in a constructive manner.

Carol decided to go back to school when she was in her 60s, earned her degree, and then began working as an art therapist with HIV/AIDS patients and the families of those patients. Because her later academic success was so remarkable, a scholarship in her honor was established so that it can be used to assist other adults who are returning to school.
