Bonita Schmidt Obituary, Death – Bonita “Bunny” (Easter) Schmidt, who resided in Pittsburgh and passed away on February 19, 2023, was 70 years old at the time of her passing. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Her children Jay (Lori) Schmidt and Matt (Mary) Schmidt, as well as her grandchildren Ronan, Bailey, Hillary, Clementine, and Fira, as well as her brothers Earl (Tara) Easter and Keith (Kathy) Easter, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends, are among those who are left behind by Bonita. She will be sorely missed by many.
Both of his parents, Harold Easter and Audrey Easter (Kotouch), had already passed away before he was born. Upon the completion of her secondary schooling, Bunny enrolled in and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing, where she received the nursing degree that enabled her to become a Registered Nurse. Her very first position as a nurse was at Mercy Hospital, but she later moved on to St. Clair Hospital, and it was there that she remained employed up until the time that she retired.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer during one of her numerous battles with the disease, Bunny decided to take up running as a hobby. Bunny has had multiple episodes with the disease. After that, she started getting involved with the cross country program at Baldwin, and eventually, she became one of the coaches for the high school team. Through her mentoring, Bunny was able to increase funding for breast cancer research as well as knowledge of the disease and its treatment. Throughout the course of her tenure as a coach, she was a positive example for a significant number of the young athletes she worked with.
On Thursday, February 23, 2023 and Friday, February 24, friends and family will be able to pay their respects at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, which can be found at 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15236, during the hours of 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, respectively. The services will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On Saturday, February 25, at 10 o’clock in the morning, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Gabriel Worship Center of Our Lady of Hope Parish, which is situated at 5302 Greenridge Road in Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
